June 12th 2008 - I'm sitting on the tour bus parked behind a semi permanent stage in the middle of a big field populated with untroubled country music fans somewhere in the middle of the Oklahoma plains. Yeah, I'm at work. The 2008 tour with Sugarland as going well. We are making our way back and forth across the country entertaining people where ever we can. In the mean time, I'm starting to write and play with Train again in preparation for a new release. And in between all that, I've been hiking my way through some National Parks out west. Check Backstory and Flickr for more on that.
October 15th 2007 - I'm nine shows into the CMT fall tour with Sugarland. We are headlining arenas, which is an incredible experience. This has been a year of touring milestones for me, with the amphitheaters, stadiums and now headlining arenas. The show has some great production moments, although my plan for arriving on stage on a rolling keyboard riser towed behind a herd of caribou was nixed due to budgetary constraints (one day...), and Little Big Town is a hard act to follow. I'm also training to run a half marathon with band mates Thad and Annie to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. You can read all about Team Sugarland (and even donate online) here. We are having a great time raising money for a great cause.
July 20th 2007 - I'm on the road seemingly non-stop. And there is no break in the near future. I'm barely home these days to do any other writing or recording. But I'm enjoying myself out here on the road. Next week I'll be on Good Morning America (Fri the 27th) and the View (Monday the 30th) with Sugarland. We have two more stadium shows, Foxboro, MA and Detroit. I'm also going to go see the Police play in Boston, which I'm both excited and anxious about. My first concert was the Police on the Syncronicity tour, which was so incredible. I have reservations about seeing them again after so many years. But I'm also looking forward to an indulgent nostalgic evening.
June 19th 2007 - I'm sitting in the greenroom of the Tonight Show, which seems like a fine place from which to post that I'll be on the Tonight Show with Sugarland tonight, which is almost as good as saying yesterday that I'll be on the Tonight show tomorrow. Or tomorrow, when I'll undoubtedly say, I was on the Tonight show yesterday.
May 28th 2007 - The new site is slowly evolving. I added some new photos to my Flickr account. I downloaded a new program to batch upload photos, which should encourage me to keep the site more updated. I'm still organizing my China photos and journal which I will post eventually. I'm recovering at home for a few days before heading back out with Sugarland. We have some fun tv dates coming up this summer, as well as more opening dates with Kenny Chesney and a slew of headlining shows around the country.
May 2007 - After yeilding to a onslaught of spam comments on my old blog, I've found the elusive final push of motivation to get this new site launched. I still have some work to do, which I hope to get to this month. I'm in Grand Rapids today, playing the second of two nights here on the Kenny Chesney tour. Last month I played the song Stay with Sugarland on the CMT awards. Next Tuesday, the 15th, we will perform on the ACM awards. We have some more television lined up for later this year.
April 2007 - Tonight I'm in Fargo, ND, one of my a precious few states remaining on my "yet to gig in" map. We are a couple of night into the 21 week tour opening for Kenny Chesney. It is amazing to see a touring machine this large in action. I'll be playing with Sugarland on the CMT awards on Monday night. I'm still working on getting the new site together. I'll keep adding chunks as I find the time.
Feb 2007 - I'm currently on the road with Sugarland. We will be opening for Kenny Chesney all summer, which will include a few stadium shows. I'm playing a few songs on accordion, and I've convinced our crew to let me roam wirelessly across the stage, so watch out.
I recorded some piano and keyboard tracks for my good friend and former roommate, Kodac Harrison.
And in revamping my website, I've moved my blog-ish writing to a different area called backstory, where I hope to begin including podcasts and more multi media content.
